Stephen Samuelson, MD completed his psychiatry residency at the University of Iowa and remained there to do a research fellowship in genetics. He later spent several years in an academic career during which he taught and did research in the field of psychiatry, publishing numerous research articles on depression, anxiety, substance abuse, pathological gambling, and neurobiology. He has served as the medical director for a variety of clinical and/or research-oriented hospital units and currently treats patients who have a variety of psychiatric issues such as eating disorders, addiction/dual diagnosis, depression, bipolar disorder and anxiety disorders.
Dr. Samuelson is board certified in Psychiatry, is on the clinical faculty of the University of Kansas School of Medicine and serves on the board of directors for the American Academy of Clinical Psychiatrists. He joined The Kansas City Psychiatric Group in 1997 and treats patients from age 18 through senior adulthood.
